Susie Burston was born in 1913 and has lived in System Street, Adamsdown, all her life

We had a baker right on the corner of Sun Street right opposite my house. Marks their name was, it was a great, great business. The bakery was on the corner and the bake house was around the corner on Sun Street. Good Friday the boys would be outside the bakehouse waiting to be given a tray of buns and they would have a tin on a piece of string on their wrist. They would go along the street shouting 'Hot Cross Buns ......sings a song. ...... And people would buy the buns and put it in the tin. Christmas time people would be queuing up with their chickens and turkeys to use the big ovens and all their cakes. There would be a queue. right up System Street.
