Mrs. Fox grew up in Cardiff and became a schoolteacher. Her Husband Mr. Fox was a policeman and amateur photographer.

When the canal was in being and being used it used to go alongside Mill Lane. Along the wall against the canal there used to be a market with all the stalls where you could buy fruit and vegetables and it was great place to gather on a Saturday afternoon. We would go there for the bargains because they couldn't keep fruit over the weekend. We would stock up on fruit and veg for the week and go home laden on the tram. Then that area was redeveloped, it when the canal was filled in, they were moved to the Hayes Island by the Old library and there were all stalls around the Island and where the café is now there were stalls all around there. That would have been in about the 1970's. The Market was in Mill Lane in the 50's and then the St David's Centre was built so they were moved from the Hayes Island to the current position by Debenhams. There was quite an outcry about it both from the stallholders and the shoppers.
