It was much quieter than it is now and there weren't so many cars about. [MH] the trams used to go up and down Splott Road.
SH: At that time I was living on Scathmuir Road in one of those houses and working in the steel works which was convenient and I used to ride a bike. Everybody used to have a bike to get around then.
MH: I learnt to ride a bike going up and down this road (Clydesmuir) because I used to live in Tweedsmuir Road.
