George Nicholas grew up on Taff Embankment. He used to play in the Taff and bunk off school to go down the docks

The docks. Now my old my old man was bought up in the docks. He was born in 1910 up until 1930 when he went away to the Spanish civil war. He was in the international brigade. My uncle married a coloured women. He divorced her like but we still call her family, her kids were my cousins. In my school, Ninian Park, we used to have the woodwork place and the school from the dock used to come up and use it because they didn't have one of their own and one day these kids were going to beat me up and all that. So we were all in a crowd now with me shaking like a jelly and my cousin steps forward and says all right coz how are you getting on? And we just walked away.
