Ian Kay is a local collector who moved to Cardiff to go to art college.
Roberts Emporium was built in 1900 by Mr. Roberts and was a printing factory. They were involved in printing, stationary and shipping. I have been here about seven years. I came to Cardiff to go to art school, did my foundation in Liverpool first then came down to Cardiff in 75, lived with Underworld, involved in the whole art stuff and was also involved in a lot of music along the way. Lots of punk bands. Our first gig was in Chapter and we had no name so they called us 'Discarded', we also used to go over to Newport and play over there. Over by the railway at the Great Western which was also called the lions Den, the Electricity club, the railway club. It was exciting at the time because all the main bands played in the top rank in Cardiff, the Buzzcocks, you know all that lot.
