Rita Spinola has lived in Grangetown all her life.
I can remember when we had the big snow, when I was a little girl and we were home from the January through till the March. We had this great big snowball in the street. Which was great. When I was little we would go to Clive Street and there would be a queue and we would have to queue up and we pay for this truck, push it along the lane into the bottom of Ferry road, Which now would be IKEA but it was the gasworks and they had coke there. It would be lovely. It was much cheaper than coal. We would queue up there and they would fill the truck up with coke and it would be steaming, we would turn around and my mum and I would push the truck along until we got home- we lived down the end of the lane. We would tip the coal on the floor and shovel it into the coal shed.
