So every Saturday in town there would be fighting basically, the police used to come in and if you were in a group of 3 or more people you would get separated because you would be considered a gang. I have a memory of 100's of mods coming up Charles Street chanting we are the mods and us punks running into Grassroots and barring the doors. This went on for ages, every Saturday. That would have been in 1979-80. There would just be these huge groups of people on Queen Street, it would be a buzz there were points when it was just terrifying.
