Pam Watkins grew up in Tremorfa and went to Lady Margaret school on Colchester Avenue.

Splott Park was there, there was a swimming pool there- it was outdoors. When I was in primary school we used to be taken over there for our swimming lessons. There was a parky and he had a little hut by the Bowling Green and was very fierce. He had a stick and wouldn't let you on the grass. On certain areas of grass there were little wires running along with signs saying 'keep off the grass'. As children you weren't really allowed. You had your bit which was concrete and had a really high slide, that was my favourite. My Dad used to take me to the park sometimes after work. I used to play on my own, I was quite a lonely child because my brother and sister were so much older than me. I went to Baden Powell but most of the Children around me were Catholic so they would go to Albany road.
