Mrs. Morgan grew up in Adamsdown and remembers the old market there, her husband also lived in the area.

The milk man used to come around with a big churn. You would take your jug out to the churn and the coal man. That was interesting there was a coal yard in Little Pearl Street and often children would be sent up for a barrow of coal with these little wooden barrows. My mother never sent us but lots of children were. We would go up the company and on the way back you would take it turns to ride in the barrows. Everything was done by horse and cart in those days, Eddie's the milk, Pastachio's the ice Cream people. Of course there were lots of little corner shops around at that time. There was also a local bakery and I can remember my mother baking the Christmas cake and taking it to the bakers to be cooked.
