Ian Kay is a local collector who moved to Cardiff to go to art college.
Michael Jackson fever would have to have been it. He played at the Arms Park. That was incredible. It was packed with everybody moon-walking. The city has really changed in the last 20 years going from there being traffic going up Queen Street to the Casablanca down in the bay. The city had a really different feeling, when I arrived it was a lot more dilapidated and run down there were more derelict buildings and little Victorian terrace houses, old shops with the old character, what saved the city was the really good arcades that have held the city together. Cardiff still has that Victorian quarter but now the city is more corporate. The city is starting to choke a little bit.
Cardiff is now on the map.
