Terry O'Neil has been involved in the Cardiff music scene all his life.

To start with you had a few ballrooms, obviously ballroom dancing was dying out. The two I used to go to were the Kenard by the Junction Off Richmond Road and city road. I think it is a carpet shop on the ground floor and a gym upstairs. So that used to be a ballroom, it actually goes around the back on the corner and then opposite the George Pub there was a sort of caf bit. They didn't serve alcohol then. If you wanted a drink you would go to the pub before you went there. So anyway there was this little caf which was actually over this shop on Crwys Road. The Ballroom had a very good DJ. Their main night, the Friday night, would have been mainly records other places tried to get people in with bands but this was the most popular night by far. Thy used to have bands in the Victoria, in Canton facing Clive road, That was a ballroom as well. They used to have bands and records I there.
