We also used to play on the steamers, the Waverly and the Balmoral. I remember one incident when we started from Barry and we had to get the Piano on board and it dropped in the dock. It was an upright piano. As far as I know it is still there. There was another incident when we were playing off Penarth in a gale. We were virtually lashed to the pillars. I had a rope around me and so did the drummer. You just couldn't stand up. It was just like when the Titanic went down.
