Mrs. Fox grew up in Cardiff and became a schoolteacher. Her Husband Mr. Fox was a policeman and amateur photographer.

I went to Heathfeild House School with a scholarship, that was the Catholic girls high school which I obviously past my 11 plus to go there. So my father bought me a second hand bike and I had to cycle over to Richmond Road from Canton every day. I think the school is King's Monkton now. I started Heathfeild house in the September that the war broke out, so that was 1939. I was away with my family in Worthing for August and then we got home and war broke out. We carried on and I cycled most of the time back and forth. I can remember being stopped on my way through town by and air raid siren and having to go into a shelter that was actually in the wall of the castle.
