Judi Richards was born in Cardiff and studied at The Welsh College Of Music And Drama. She then went on to be manager of The New Theatre.

There was a period in the early 60's late 70's when there was an open-air theatre company. I went to the Welsh College of Music and Drama when it was the Cardiff College of music and Drama at the Castle. One of my fellow students founded Cardiff Open Air Theatre Company- COATH and they played in the park for about 8 years I think.
Also in those days it was a big treat to go out on the lake, if I could persuade my father to take me out rowing, trips on the motor boat were quite regular because nobody had to put any effort into it. When I was about 12 I had a Yorkshire Terrier puppy I took him for a tour of the park and ran into a friend that used to be in college and he took me rowing on the lake. The Yorkshire terrier jumped in and had to be saved, then I had to go home and admit that I had been out on the lake without permission.
