A man used to come around to the house every summer with a horse and cart loaded with straw and carrying strawberries. My grandmother used to buy the strawberries and make jam. There was also a lady who used to come around with a lovely white horse selling fruit and eggs. Of course we didn't used to have supermarkets then. She would come around. The funny part about it was that my mum had a lovely garden and so did the lady next door. Anytime the horse dropped a load in the street someone would go out with a bucket and shovel. So this one day the horse dropped a load my mum ran in but couldn't find her shovel. By the time she got out it had gone. My mother was most annoyed. Later on that day she was talking to the neighbour and she mentioned she had a lovely load off the horse earlier that day. My mother said that was mine!
