John Goode has worked in Howells for 37 years. He started his career as assistant buyer and now runs the Gold Card suite
In my early days my office was quite near the library lots of students would be studying in the library and at half ten they would come straight through, down the stairs and into the Argosy for their coffee. I got to know quite a lot of them because my break was at the same time, and it was natural that when they were 21 they would come and ask me about 21st birthday presents. Many of them also got married in Cardiff which is still very current, so I knew a lot of them as students, then as customers buying canteens of cutlery and now I know their grandchildren. So it is interesting in my role as Gold Card Services manager that I do personal shopping with many generations of people.
