I moved to Grangetown when Les and I got married. That is where Les was from. We lived with his mum and eventually moved into his Nana's old house. It was in North Street and was very old. I think it used to be a police house there was a side gate and you would go out to the yard with stables. They used to have 4 horses but when we moved there, there was only two. One was a big working horse. We used to call them the big one and the little one. The little one was alright but the big one was nasty. Les' Dad would come out with no sleeves in his jacket because of the horse. Anyway we were living there and Steven was about 2 and Dad always called in to say hello to him. One day he came in and said Beryl where is the little lad? I said he is with you isn't he. Oh My God I panicked we ran to the stables and sure enough he was in there with the big horse, right around his feet talking away. I swear to God that horse never touched him. Steven must have been in there about ten minutes with him.
