Dora Ellis was born in 1929 on Catherine Street in Cathays. She has lived and worked in Cardiff all her life.
We got married at St Margaret's church in Roath and the vicar said you are the prettiest bride and the handsomest Groom I have ever married. Another thing I can remember living in the Docks was not 100's but 1000's of soldiers all sat with packs on their backs. They were exhausted, young boys that had marched for miles. People were coming out of their houses with tea for them- they were very kind people in Splott but They were told not to by the people in charge. France was invaded the next day so all those young boys would have been going to fight in France. It was very sad to think the next day how many of them would have been killed.
