You know Newtown, we used to call it Vatican City. There was the steps that go over to Tyndall Street. At the bottom of those steps, that is where all the corner boys used to play pitch and toss, so if you shout cops they would all run off and you could pick up their pennies. All my friends were Catholic so they lived over Newtown. It is the same as the Bay. That is all gone. You used to walk down to the Bay on a Sunday and everybody would be jiving on the streets, there would be music blaring from every house. It was a fabulous atmosphere.
