Jesse Spillane is a member of the Cardiff Friendship Force Club. The group was set up to organise international exchanges between families. Jesse has been involved with the organisation since it began in 1980.

I was one of the early members of Friendship force but I didn't take office when I first joined because I had children then. When people come to Cardiff the group normally appoints an exchange director who stays with our exchange director. They organise all the programming.
The evening dinners at Cardiff Castle used to be fantastic. We had a couple of members from the Athletic Association Choir and thy used to entertain for the evening. There was always a nice meal. Usually the incoming people do a little performance typical to their culture. The Castle was the best venue we ever had. We have people coming twice a year One European and one from further a field.
After September the 11th we had a trip planned and the exchange director asked me if she thought we should still go ahead. I said, 'absolutely it is even more important that we go out now and show our support for these dear people'.
